Words cannot express the deep sorrow of a wonderful boy who lost his life much too soon. Tank was everything you want in a Dane. Handsome, loyal, loving and sweet from nose to tail. He was my accomplished show pup that I had waited for. Truly a gentle giant at 36.5" at the withers and a solid 170 lbs. I can honestly say that I would give up any Earthy possession I own to have him back here with us. Tank's coat was the color of sunset. His mask the deepest of midnight. The eyes of an angel, and a heart of a child. He truly was my son in every term of the word and I miss him dearly with every breath. We lost our boy from gastric torsion. More commonly referred to as bloat. Bloat can afflict any dog but is more common in deep chested dogs. It is most common in Great Danes. All Dane owners should become familiar with the signs of bloat and seek immediate medical attention. It is very much an emergency situation.
We thank all of our friends and family for helping us through our terrible loss. We give an astounding appreciation for my friends over at The Repository. Renee, Rita, Mercia, Dorrie, Liz, Deana and Pam. They made us a beautiful framed picture of our boy and are the most caring, wonderful ladies in the world. I would have never made it without them. We also thank Dr. Denise Baltic for rushing to meet us. The entire staff of Valley View Animal Hospital for the gentle care and respect for our boy. We thank our friend Scott for helping me get Tank into the car... I could have never lifted him alone. I thank my family for literally picking me up off the floor when my heart broke in two. Geib Funeral Home for the delicate way they handled our boy's aftercare. Aunt Candy and our cousin Amy for their heart felt appreciation and love for Tank. I really thank my husband for rushing to meet me. He was half-way across the state when this happened. You are my rock and I adore you. He was our beautiful boy wasn't he! We also give thanks to all of our many Dane friends we have made along years. To those who complimented him at dog shows or stopped to pet him and befriend our sweet boy, THANK YOU!
